People will look for success via different methods. This can become particularly true for those trying out something new, a potential passion to pursue, or when inspiration suddenly hits them. Motivation becomes prevalent at all-time levels during these moments.
As should be clear, though, these factors are, at best, short-sighted and can only lead to temporary results.
During an in-depth conversation, as shared on X by Josh Chambers, Chris Bosh would speak with Kobe Bryant about what is truly needed when striving for greatness.
At the end of the day, as discussed by the basketball Hall-of-Famer, there is really only one path. It will always be necessary, regardless of the goal or what era one is operating in, to be in full-throttle mode.
This means that obsession and crossing the lines of what many believe to be too much or unreasonable have to become afterthoughts.
Too many look for shortcuts or instant results. Naturally, these approaches tend to lead to disappointment and the individual giving up before ever truly even attempting to fully apply anything that would even resemble an attempt.
Being able to push through once resistance is met is where most people give up. If, however, one is able to go further and still push for the intended goal, then one is already ahead of roughly 90% of everyone else.
The ‘Mamba Mentality’ is well known and documented at this point.
It can be summarised as genuinely putting forth one’s entire and best effort while refusing to give in to laziness and the voices in the head that insist that something cannot be done or that the task at hand is too difficult.
