WEST VIRGINIA 7, TROY 5 | COLLEGE WORLD SERIES | JUNE 12, 2026
The No. 16 West Virginia University baseball team opened the Men’s College World Series with a 7-5 victory over Troy, Friday afternoon at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The Mountaineers improve to 46-15 this season while the Trojans fall to 38-31.
Outfielder Armani Guzman created a highlight-reel play when he executed a straight steal of home in the first inning. Guzman’s aggressive headfirst dive onto the dish helped the Mountaineers kick off their first-ever appearance in Omaha.
Besides giving his team an early lead, Guzman’s daring dash was his 39th stolen base this year, setting a single-season program record.
