WELCOME TO THE SHOW, KONNOR GRIFFIN
The 19-year-old phenom mashes an RBI double in his first MLB at-bat on April 3, 2026, as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. the Baltimore Orioles.
Griffin’s extra-base knock set the tone in a 5–4 Pirates victory over the O’s. The fantastic phenom finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, but the stat line almost feels secondary to the symbolism of the moment. Entering the 2026 campaign, Griffin was widely viewed as the best position player on the prospect list. The tantalizing thought of pairing his five-tool skills with the pitching dominance of Cy Young winner Paul Skenes, 23, had some around the Steel City thinking of a future division title.
Still just a teenager, Griffin became the first player his age to debut in the majors since Juan Soto in 2018, placing him in some pretty rare company before his career had even begun.
