On December 5, 1987, Tim Brown was awarded the Heisman Trophy as college football’s best player. He emerged as Notre Dame’s biggest offensive threat, totaling 1,847 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns on the season. His performance was highlighted by a game against Michigan State, where he returned two consecutive punts for touchdowns.

Brown became the eighth player in Fighting Irish history to win the Heisman, and the last one thus far. He would be selected by the (then) Los Angeles Raiders with the sixth overall pick in the following Spring’s NFL Draft.
The wide receiver would go on to become a nine-time Pro Bowler, totalling 1,094 catches for 14,934 yards and 100 receiving touchdowns. Brown was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Tim Brown is also enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame (Class of 2009).
In 1995, he became the National Chairman of Athletes & Entertainers for Kids and the related 9-1-1 for Kids. These efforts have helped over five million children and teens through mentoring and educational programs. In January 2012, Brown received the Silver Anniversary Award from the NCAA in recognition of his myriad athletic and professional accomplishments.
