3 Big Takeaways From WWE RAW – July 14, 2025

After what felt like the biggest and busiest weekend of wrestling that we’ve ever seen, WWE was coming off a very successful weekend. Their send-off for Goldberg was a highlight of the latest edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, and the second, all-female Evolution was better than many expected.

It was almost a melancholy Monday as fans had to be fatigued by the furious fest of wrestling that we were seemingly force-fed. However, WWE has no time to rest on any laurels, as they begin gearing up for a historic, two-day SummerSlam. It will be the first time that this PLE has been staged throughout a weekend.

Having said that? WWE and Triple H didn’t want to show hints of a creative hangover, so they made sure to add plenty of action and intrigue. Here are Three Big Takeaways from the latest episode of RAW on Netflix:

Apparently, it was ladies’ night on RAW this week. The first half of the show was dominated by the fallout from Sunday’s successful Evolution event, and the women’s roster held the spotlight for much of this show, as well.

We had the jelling of the makeshift tag team champs Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, along with Becky Lynch finding out that Lyra Valkyria will challenge her at Summerslam. Lyra won a 2-out-of-3 falls match against Bayley to secure that shot.

But the biggest news of the night was that newly-crowned WWE Women’s World Champion Naomi will defend her title in a three-way dance against two former champions – Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. Considering what we’ve seen all three of these ladies do in the past, their match-up in the WWE’s Summer Classic could be a show stealer.

Gunther was very full of himself this week, and he probably had a right to be. On Saturday, he retired Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg in a terrific encounter between the two titans. So the reigning World Champion decided he would watch from a distance while his potential challengers fought each other in a gauntlet match.

But before he could make his exit, he was interrupted by Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker. As usual, Heyman delivered an outstanding promo, stating that his charge would be the one to dethrone the Awesome Austrian. With Seth Rollins currently out, it only makes sense that the wily manager would begin to push his young protege, as Breakker certainly has a bright future with WWE.

However, in the end, it would be CM Punk who gained the victory and the right to challenge for the championship. With only a couple of weeks to build this battle in the minds of the audience, Triple H and the creative team picked the two right guys. The arrogance of Gunther mixed with the precociousness of Punk should make for some incredible promos.

The most dynamic star in World Wrestling Entertainment has returned; accept no substitutes.

If anyone has doubts about who the number one guy in this promotion is, there’s no need for debate. Just listen to the crowd when Roman Reigns made his re-emergence after weeks of being away. He’s been gone since the night after WrestleMania, but it was like he didn’t miss a beat when it comes to the WWE Universe. They were ecstatic to see the Original Tribal Chief hit the ring to make the save for his cousin, Jey Uso (and, to a lesser extent, CM Punk).

Roman’s return capped off a great night of action. Kudos to the creative team for continuing the storytelling that was laid out at Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution. The only fault may be that they oversaturated the first half of the show with all that content.

The company’s biggest strength is that they are sticking to their linear storylines – perhaps better than they ever have before. Because of that, and the electric return of Reigns, this week’s RAW gets a grade of A-
