TODAY IN SPORTS HISTORY… July 3rd: Covid Cancels the All-Star Game

On July 3, 2020, Major League Baseball announced that the All-Star Game, planned to be hosted on July 14 by the LA Dodgers, was being cancelled due to government restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On July 6, MLB released the revised schedule for the shortened 60-game season. With the abbreviated schedule in place, the season was played to conclusion, with the Dodgers defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in what will be remembered as one of the most bizarre baseball seasons ever.
