During Chicago’s first Three-Peat, the Bulls and Michael Jordan squared off against the Trail Blazers and Clyde Drexler in a battle for basketball supremacy

On June 14, 1992, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Portland Trail Blazers to capture the NBA Championship. Chi-Town won the series in six games, securing their second consecutive title. Michael Jordan was named the Finals MVP for the second year in a row.
The match-up pitted Jordan against another legendary guard of the era in Portland star Clyde Drexler. Michael was up to the challenge and provided the series’ most memorable moment. On the way to a Game 1 win, Jordan unleashed a fury of three-point shots, scoring 39 points and setting the tone for the rest of the Finals. And while the Blazers put up as much resistance as they could, they fell victim to the Chicago Bulls’ iconic 1990s dynasty.
The Bulls would go on to defeat Charles Barkley and the Phoenix Suns in the 1993 Finals to complete their first three-peat. Once again, Michael Jordan would be named the MVP of that series. That Fall, he would announce his first retirement from the NBA, sitting out nearly two full seasons before returning to the Bulls and leading them to yet another three-peat.
