On May 31, 2008, Usain Bolt broke the world record in the 100m sprint, with a wind-legal (+1.7m/s) 9.72 seconds. It was just one major accolade in the long and storied career of the greatest sprinter of all time.
The Jamaican runner broke his own record on multiple occasions, but his 2008 Sprint is what really put Bolt on the map. Before long, he would become the face of Men’s Track & Field worldwide.
To date, Bolt is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist and the world record holder in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4 × 100 metres relay. He is widely considered that greatest men’s sprinter of all time.
