The WWE World Heavyweight Champion has forged a relationship with the fans that has only added to the luster of his title reign

When Jey Uso defeated Gunther at WrestleMania 41 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, some fans were a little bit skeptical. While the man who calls himself the Main Event definitely earned his place among the promotion’s elite, there were some questions as to whether he could truly carry the banner for RAW on Netflix.
Over the past several weeks, that question has been answered with a very profound, ‘YEET’.
Uso, who is already a member of perhaps the greatest tag team in WWE history with his brother Jommy, was viewed as just that: a duos competitor, and one that would never truly be a solo star. But after a singles run that has seen him capture the Intercontinental title as well as his current World Championship reign, there should be no doubt why he’s carrying the gold.
Jey Uso has the Most Electric Entrance in WWE right now
While today’s hyped-up entrances don’t really matter much to old school fans, the new generation of the WWE Universe typically supports a performer who makes their presence known in some kind of spectacular way. And anyone who has seen Jey come through the crowd, with his fans Yeeting along and doing the ‘up-down’ dance, knows that he has a psychological connection with the audience.
But it isn’t just his gregarious approach to the squared circle that makes him a crowd favorite. It’s the level of emotion and intensity he displays when he speaks. Jey Uso can go from the guy who may be clowning around and smiling, to instantly becoming a much more serious and sullen superstar when necessary.
His raw emotion and true grit are on full display when he talks to the fans. He comes off as genuine and relatable. To them, Jey Uso is a worthy champion who fights fiercely for himself, his title, and the ones he loves. You can’t be any more heroic than that.
The WWE World Champion Knows how to Elicit Emotion
Adding to all those qualities that his on-air persona possesses is the fact that Uso is just an amazing athlete, as well. He’s a legitimate heavyweight at 245 pounds, and he can fly with the best of them. And at just 39 years old, the veteran still has a lot of miles on his odometer.
Jey Uso is one of the top merchandise sellers the brand currently has, and his popularity seemingly grows with every passing week. He may not have been some fans’ first choice to hold the gold, but he has turned out to be the BEST choice. The intangibles and the energy that he brings to the table are unmatched right now, and it’s all helped him truly connect with the fans.
It will be interesting to see how long he remains the World Champion. But no matter when or how this magical run ends, Jey Uso has proven that he is truly what he’s always said he was: The Main Event… And the WWE Universe couldn’t agree more.
